{"id":156609,"date":"2026-01-30T14:35:23","date_gmt":"2026-01-30T14:35:23","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-ca\/156609\/"},"modified":"2026-01-30T14:35:23","modified_gmt":"2026-01-30T14:35:23","slug":"work-underway-for-long-beach-amphitheater","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-ca\/156609\/","title":{"rendered":"Work underway for Long Beach Amphitheater"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><a href=\"https:\/\/longbeach.gov\/edo\/news\/groundbreaking-of-new-long-beach-amphitheater\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">At a ceremony earlier this month<\/a>, Long Beach officials formally broke ground on a<a href=\"https:\/\/la.urbanize.city\/post\/long-beach-planning-commission-set-approve-waterfront-amphitheater\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\"> new watefront concert venue<\/a> that will be located steps from the Queen Mary.<\/p>\n<p>The Long Beach Amphitheater, billed as the largest venue of its type on the west coast, will span a roughly seven-acre property at 1051 Queens Highway which is currently used as surface parking. New bleacher-style seating will provide seated capacity for 11,000 spectators (and standing room capacity for 12,000), with other structures providing concession areas, lounges, offices, and a performance stage.<\/p>\n<p class=\"image-and-caption\">\n<a class=\"fancybox\" href=\"https:\/\/la.urbanize.city\/sites\/default\/files\/styles\/1140w\/public\/2025-01\/long-beach-bowl-2.png?itok=vxOQxG-6\" rel=\"article-image-set nofollow noopener\" title=\"City of Long Beach\" target=\"_blank\"><img decoding=\"async\" alt=\"\" class=\"image-950w article-inline-image\" src=\"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-ca\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/11\/long-beach-bowl-2.png\" width=\"950\"\/><\/a><br \/>\nRenderings of proposed Long Beach Bowl temporary amphitheater, anticipated to hold 10,000 to 12,000 seats and be located adjacent to the iconic Queen Mary in DowntownCity of Long Beach<\/p>\n<p>The $21-million project is being funded through the City&#8217;s Tideland Funds Group, and will be repaid through operating profit from the amphitheater. The City expects to generate between $2.5 million and $3 million each year. The Port of Long Beach will serve as the venue&#8217;s first sponsor, providing $650,000 over a five-year term for branding and marketing purposes.<\/p>\n<p>Long Beach officials expect the amphitheater to host 40 concert-scale events each year. The first events are confirmed for August and September 2026, including concerts by M\u00f6tley Cr\u00fce, TOTO, Christopher Cross, The Romantics, and Five Finger Death Punch.<\/p>\n<p>Long Beach is not the only waterfront community with designs on a new concert venue.
