LONG BEACH, Calif. \u2013\u00a0The University of Hawai’i men’s basketball team\u00a0begins the second half of its\u00a0Big West regular-season when it takes on Long Beach State on Saturday,\u00a0Jan. 31. Tipoff is set for 1:00 p.m. PT\/3:00 p.m. HT at the LBS Financial Credit Union Pyramid.<\/p>\n
This will be the first meeting between the teams this season after the team’s split last year’s series. The Rainbow Warriors look to rebound following an 87-76 overtime loss at UC Irvine on Thursday that dropped the ‘Bows to second in the league standings. Long Beach State, which is in a tie for eighth in the Big West, returns home after suffering its third straight setback with a 71-61 loss at UC Riverside.\u00a0<\/p>\n

\n\tThe last 14 meetings between the teams have been decided by single digits.
\n\tThe Beach is led by former UH assistant Chris Acker (2015-17).\u00a0Former UH associate head coach John Montgomery (2015-2024) is also part of the LBSU staff.
\n\tLBSU was without Gavin Sykes at UC Riverside. Sykes is among the top freshman scorers in the NCAA, averaging 18.2 ppg, including 19.4 in league play.
\n\tUH tied its season high with 13 three-pointers at UC Irvine and are a combined 25-of-62 (40%) from beyond the arc the last two games.
\n\tUH is 2-4 on the road this season, including 2-3 in Big West play.
\n\tUH’s average margin of victory in its two Big West road wins is 31.5 points and its average margin of defeat in its three\u00a0Big West road losses is 12.0 points.
