WASHINGTON (TNND) \u2014 President Donald Trump on Friday called Alex Pretti,<\/a> the ICU nurse shot and killed by a federal agent in Minneapolis last week, an \u201cagitator and, perhaps, insurrectionist.”<\/p>\n

The comment came after Trump said he watched the video released of Pretti appearing to kick and spit on a federal agent’s car <\/a>in an encounter 11 days before he was fatally shot.<\/p>\n

“Alex Pretti\u2019s stock has gone way down with the just released video of him screaming and spitting in the face of a very calm and under control ICE Officer, and then crazily kicking in a new and very expensive government vehicle, so hard and violent, in fact, that the taillight broke off in pieces,” Trump wrote on Truth Social. <\/p>\n

“It was quite a display of abuse and anger, for all to see, crazed and out of control. The ICE Officer was calm and cool, not an easy thing to be under those circumstances!” he continued. <\/p>\n

The footage released by The News Movement and analyzed by BBC News shows a man appearing to be Pretti screaming at immigration officers on Jan. 13 before spitting and kicking in the taillight as the vehicle drove away. Two agents are then seen exiting the vehicle and tackling the man to the ground.<\/p>\n

Another video was published by The Minnesota Star Tribune showing the same event at a different angle, which Pretti’s family confirmed was him. <\/p>\n

A report from CNN detailed Pretti having a broken rib<\/a> from a previous encounter with federal agents.<\/p>\n

The media outlet also reported that Pretti had told the source, “five agents tackled him and one leaned on his back,” which allegedly led to the broken bone. <\/p>\n

After Pretti’s death on Jan. 24, the Trump administration portrayed Pretti as approaching CBP officers while carrying a 9mm semiautomatic handgun and two magazines.<\/p>\n

His family released a statement<\/a> after the shooting condemning the “sickening lies told about our son by the administration,” calling them “reprehensible and disgusting.”<\/p>\n

The Department of Justice announced Friday that it has launched a federal civil rights investigation<\/a> into the death of Pretti. <\/p>\n
