Oakland County police are investigating after a 5-year-old girl drown at an Independence Township athletic club.AP Photo\/Matt Rourke, File<\/p>\n<p class=\"article__paragraph article__paragraph--left\" id=\"MDCZSDH4GJC6JJEMOCR524Y33Q\">INDEPENDENCE, TWP., MI \u2014 Police are investigating after a young child drowned at a local athletic club. <\/p>\n<p class=\"article__paragraph article__paragraph--left\" id=\"VI4QDF6GNBHD3HZRYDHBH5L3A4\">The Oakland County Sheriff\u2019s Office said it is investigating the circumstances around the drowning of a 5-year-old Sterling Heights girl.<\/p>\n<p class=\"article__paragraph article__paragraph--left\" id=\"NF7ZF4MLGJCE3JFXLYWBKAPKIU\">The drowning occurred shortly after 7 p.m. on Friday, Jan. 30 at the Deer Lake Athletic Club on the 600 block of White Lake Road in Independence Township. <\/p>\n<p class=\"article__paragraph article__paragraph--left\" id=\"BMNFESZRA5C2NP7T5WYW2D7QFI\">Police have not identified the victim. <\/p>\n<p class=\"article__paragraph article__paragraph--left\" id=\"T7N7EABELNAI3NFTWZYVYITLEU\">Police will release more information as the investigation proceeds. <\/p>\n<p class=\"article__paragraph article__paragraph--left\" id=\"FZ6RBWAT5ZAY5ILEBH3KBKHCSA\">Want more Ann Arbor-area news?
