ROCHESTER, Mich. – Oakland University Women’s Soccer has announced their captains for the upcoming 2026 season,\u00a0as\u00a0Brooke Blackstock<\/a>, Brae Cole<\/a>\u00a0and Ella Shapiro<\/a>\u00a0earn the honors\u00a0after their astounding performance\u00a0this past\u00a0season,\u00a0leading the team to\u00a0its deepest postseason run in recent history.\u00a0
\n\u00a0<\/p>\n

Oakland Head Coach Devin\u00a0Zvosec\u00a0had nothing but high praise for the team’s captains.\u00a0

\n\u00a0<\/p>\n

“EARNED!\u00a0I’m\u00a0incredibly proud of these three. Each of them played an important leadership role in our program’s success and in our\u00a0conference\u00a0tournament\u00a0run\u00a0this\u00a0past\u00a0fall. I know that Brooke, Ella, and Brae are the right three people to continue pushing our program to new heights and putting Oakland women’s soccer back on the map. They each bring a unique perspective, background, and leadership quality that will help guide our team toward success both on and off the field.”\u00a0

Brooke Blackstock<\/a>\u00a0is a\u00a0returning junior, coming off a breakout season in 2025\u00a0as a defender.\u00a0Throughout the season, she was one of eight players\u00a0to take on\u00a020 matches, playing the full\u00a090 minutes\u00a0in all but two games.\u00a0Not only a key piece to Oakland’s back line,\u00a0Blackstock\u00a0also leads off the pitch, having been\u00a0named to the 2025 CSC\u00a0Women’s Soccer\u00a0All-District Team, as College Sports Communicators acknowledged her hard work\u00a0in the classroom.\u00a0
\n\u00a0<\/p>\n

Brae Cole<\/a>\u00a0is beginning her second season at Oakland\u00a0as a redshirt senior, playing as both a defender and midfielder\u00a0logging\u00a0numerous\u00a0career highs this past season. Along with being named to the #HLWSOC All-League Second Team, Cole was the only Horizon League player to secure a hat-trick,\u00a0placing three goals\u00a0at\u00a0the back of the net against Mercyhurst (8\/21). \u00a0She led the team\u00a0not only in minutes (1,727), but also goals (6) and assists (3) as Cole played and started in all 20 matches of the season.\u00a0
\n\u00a0<\/p>\n

Ella Shapiro<\/a>\u00a0is a returning midfielder starting\u00a0her second season at Oakland as a redshirt senior. Logging\u00a01641 minutes, she played and started in all 20 matches of the\u00a02025\u00a0season\u00a0attempting\u00a015 shots, six on goal, and scoring two.\u00a0The Horizon League named Shapiro as a 2025 #HLWSOC Sportsmanship Award Finalist,\u00a0exemplifying\u00a0why she is a leader of the squad.\u00a0\u00a0
