(KBAK\/KBFX) \u2014 It sure has been foggy on many mornings across the South Valley of Kern County this winter. Many people can&#8217;t recall the last time we&#8217;ve had so many foggy days so consistently. Thankfully, the National Weather Service in Hanford has been keeping great weather records and with just a little bit of digging we can find the information we need to put our recent weather pattern into perspective.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" alt=\"KBAK\/KBFX\" class=\"ImageEmbed_image__qZBo_\" src=\"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-ca\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/01\/3779a322-e9bd-49e2-aa26-94c7caf0697d-DENSEFOGDAYSTOP10IN.png\"\/><\/p>\n<p>Leading the pack is the winter season of 1946-1947. During those months, Bakersfield experienced dense fog during a whopping 49 days. For context, a dense fog day is defined as a day when the visibility dropped to a quarter mile or less for any duration of time. The winter seasons of 1984-1985 and 1965-1966 both tied each other, coming in at the bottom of the Top 10 with 33 dense fog days.<\/p>\n<p>Will we make it onto this chart this year? Considering February starts Sunday, and Tule Fog season extends into that month as well, it would not be out of the realm of possibilities.
