ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. \u2014 Long Beach State closed out the 2026 indoor track and field season opener Saturday with several top-five finishes on the final day of competition at the New Mexico Team Open.<\/p>\n
The Beach men were led in the shot put by Jaylon Wells<\/a>, who placed second overall with a best throw of 58 feet, 11\u00bd inches (17.97m). In the triple jump, Quinten Flowers<\/a> finished fourth overall\u00a0after recording a mark of 46-8\u00bc (14.23m).<\/p>\n Long Beach State posted strong results in the 60-meter dash, highlighted by Trey Sheron’s<\/a> third-place finish in a time of 6.88. Sebastian Lopez<\/a> added a fifth-place showing, crossing the line in 6.94. Earlier in the day, Dre’londe Johnson clocked a 6.91 in the event.<\/p>\n On the women’s side, Jonelle Scott<\/a> turned in a podium finish in the pole vault, placing third with a clearance of 12-11\u00be (3.96m).
