Long Beach community members interested in running for local office are invited to a candidate workshop next week, The Office of the City Clerk announced.<\/p>\n

The workshop is scheduled Monday, Feb. 9 from 10 a.m. to noon at Long Beach City Hall, 411 W. Ocean Blvd., and\u00a0online\u00a0via Zoom<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Prospective candidates for mayor, city attorney, city auditor, city prosecutor and city council districts 1, 3, 5, 7 and 9 will receive an overview of the election process, including guidelines for nominations and candidate statements, campaign regulations and finance, ethics and local election laws, according to the City Clerk\u2019s Office.<\/p>\n

The workshop also signals the beginning of the nomination period, which is Feb. 9 until a deadline of 5 p.m. Friday, March 6. Nomination packets will be available after the workshop for candidates ready to start the filing process.<\/p>\n

A \u201cCandidate Handbook\u201d will be available at the workshop\u2019s conclusion and is also available on the city clerk\u2019s\u00a0webpage<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Officials said \u201cthe workshop is designed to support prospective candidates and provide the tools and information needed to participate in the local democratic process.\u201d<\/p>\n
