SINGAPORE\u2019S MULTI-BILLION-DOLLAR WAFERS<\/p>\n
Last week, Micron Technology broke ground on what will become Singapore\u2019s first double-story advanced wafer fabrication facility. The $24 billion investment will introduce vital operations to support the company\u2019s NAND Center of Excellence in the city-state. New investment has been driven by growing demand for NAND technology across AI and data center applications. Construction will deliver 700,000 sq. ft. of cleanroom space as Micron prepares to begin wafer output by mid-2028. \u201cMicron\u2019s leadership in advanced memory and storage is enabling the AI-driven transformation reshaping the global economy,\u201d said Micron Technology EVP of Global Operations Manish Bhatia. \u201cThis investment underscores Micron\u2019s long-term commitment to Singapore as an important hub in our global manufacturing network, enhancing supply chain resiliency and fostering a vibrant ecosystem for innovation.\u201d The new facility will follow the opening of the company\u2019s high-bandwidth memory advanced packaging facility at its complex in 2027, which will create another 1,400 jobs.<\/p>\n

LONGEVITY IN LONG BEACH<\/p>\n
Defense company Anduril Industries is doubling down in Southern California as it plans to introduce a new campus in Long Beach. The company announced it will construct an over 1.1-million-sq.-ft. campus, encompassing six facilities that will deliver 750,000 sq. ft. of office space and 435,000 sq. ft. of R&D space. Anduril\u2019s site, located about 30 minutes from the company\u2019s Costa Mesa HQ, will support collaboration among teams and provide a centralized location for new product research and testing. \u201cCalifornia remains one of the few places in the world where advanced technology, industrial capacity and a deep technical workforce come together at scale. Southern California has long been a center of American aerospace and defense innovation, and Long Beach sits at the heart of that ecosystem,\u201d notes the company\u2019s press release. \u201cWithin a short drive of Hawthorne, Torrance and the South Bay, the region offers access to one of the deepest concentrations of engineering and technical talent in the country.\u201d Once complete, the new campus will create 5,500 direct jobs in the region. Last February, Site Selection\u2019s Ron Starner spoke with Zachary Mears, senior vice president of strategy for Anduril, about the company\u2019s choice of Ohio for a $900 million, 4,000-job investment<\/a>.<\/p>\n DIGITAL COVERAGE ANCHORS DOWN IN SOUTHEAST ASIA<\/p>\n In the Indonesian province of West Java, Digital Edge is prepared to deliver a new $4.5 billion hyperscale data center campus. The digital infrastructure developer selected a site in the GIIC Industrial Estate, located in the city of Bekasi, to construct the 500-megawatt data center. The Digital Edge project will be built out across multiple phases, with the first building anticipated by the end of the year. Two additional facilities will come online throughout 2027. \u201cThe CGK Campus is a pivotal milestone in our APAC strategy and our largest infrastructure investment to date,\u201d said\u00a0Digital Edge CEO John Freeman of the project whose moniker refers to the airport code of Jakarta Soekarno-Hatta International Airport. \u201cThis landmark investment will enable us to drive the next decade of innovation, cloud adoption, and digital services across Indonesia and the broader region.\u201d Digital Edge\u2019s press release said that this location has the ability to scale to 1 gigawatt of IT capacity if needed.
