MACOMB COUNTY, Mich. \u2013 A Hazel Park man has been convicted of first-degree murder in connection with a deadly shooting at a Warren gas station <\/a>in 2024, officials said.<\/p>\n

Al Curtis Williams, 46, was found guilty on Monday, Feb. 2, 2026, after a four-day trial in Macomb County Circuit Court before Judge Edward Servitto. <\/p>\n

Williams was convicted of premeditated first-degree murder, which carries a sentence of life without parole. He was also found guilty of carrying a concealed weapon, a five-year felony, and felony firearm possession, a two-year felony to be served consecutively, according to the Macomb County Prosecutor\u2019s Office.<\/p>\n

The conviction stems from a deadly shooting that happened on Dec. 21, 2024.<\/p>\n

Williams and Brandon Zaner,38, of Utica, had a verbal dispute inside a Shell gas station in Warren. Officials said Williams left the gas station but returned shortly after, confronting Zaner in a nearby parking lot. <\/p>\n

During the second altercation, Williams fired one shot that struck Zaner in the chest. Zaner collapsed and was taken to a hospital, where he later died.<\/p>\n

Williams remains in custody at the Macomb County Jail, according to the prosecutor\u2019s office.<\/p>\n

He is scheduled to be sentenced on Thursday, March 12, 2026.<\/p>\n

Macomb County Prosecutor Peter J. Lucido said the verdict sends a strong message that senseless violence will not be tolerated. \u201cThis outcome holds the defendant accountable for the murder of a stranger, an absolute senseless act of violence,\u201d Lucido said. \u201cOur thoughts remain with the victim and his family.\u201d<\/p>\n
