(KGET) \u2014 A man died Tuesday after a single-vehicle crash in south Bakersfield on Phillips Road.<\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">The crash was reported in the area of Phillips and Wible roads just after 6:30 a.m. on Tuesday, according to the California Highway Patrol Traffic Incident Information Page.<\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">Investigation showed a 47-year-old man was driving a 2004 Kia Rio on southbound Wible Road, north of Phillips Road, at an unknown rate of speed.<\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\"><a class=\"link  yahoo-link\" href=\"https:\/\/www.yahoo.com\/news\/articles\/maya-hernandez-hearing-postponed-1-164620847.html\" data-ylk=\"slk:Maya Hernandez hearing postponed 1 week;elm:context_link;itc:0;sec:content-canvas;outcm:mb_qualified_link;_E:mb_qualified_link;ct:story;\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\"> Maya Hernandez hearing postponed 1 week <\/a><\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">Officials said for reasons unknown, the man was not able to negotiate a curve in the roadway and continued to head south, traveled off the roadway and collided with a tree.<\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">The man was pronounced dead at the scene, according to officials. He was the only occupant in the vehicle.<\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">It is unknown if drugs or alcohol were factors in the crash.<\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">Anyone who may have witnessed the crash is asked to contact the highway patrol at 661-396-6600.<\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">Copyright 2026 Nexstar Media, Inc.
