The comedian had purchased a $14 million farmhouse in Cotswolds, England, about a 100-mile drive northwest of London in June 2024 several months after President Trump retook office after a four-year absence.<\/p>\n
She later moved from that residence to a different glass-walled mansion<\/a> in the same town in order to accommodate wife Portia de Rossi\u2019s horses.<\/p>\n Despite DeGeneres\u2019 public comments about leaving the US, a real estate source told People that the 68-year-old former TV show host and her actor wife have been \u201cmissing the California weather and horse scene,\u201d since moving across the pond.<\/p>\n \u201cPortia loves polo and her horses,\u201d they added.<\/p>\n DeGeneres was spotted shopping for a Montecito home late last month<\/a> on the same day she was supposed to be participating in the \u201cno work, no school, no shopping\u201d movement in protest of ICE.<\/p>\n Locals in the Cotswolds area told People that they haven\u2019t seen DeGeneres \u201cin ages\u201d and that she hadn\u2019t been in a local pub for \u201cseveral months.\u201d But a different source said DeGeneres had been spotted frequently in the village over the summer.<\/p>\n DeGeneres confirmed in July 2025 that her move to the UK was motivated by Trump\u2019s election.<\/p>\n She told a crowd at Cheltenham\u2019s Everyman theater that they \u201cgot here the day <\/a>before the election,\u201d DeGeneres recalled, \u201cand woke up to lots of texts from our friends with crying emojis, and I was like, \u2018He got in.\u2019 \u2026 And we\u2019re like, \u2018We\u2019re staying here.\u2019 \u201d<\/p>\n At the time, she said life there was \u201cabsolutely beautiful.\u201d<\/p>\n The former \u201cEllen\u201d host is fond of flipping houses for a profit and is a real estate aficionado. She reportedly tried to sell her original UK farmhouse for $30 million, but has been unsuccessful.
