Gavin Newsom has appointed a new judge to the Fresno County Superior Court.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>The big picture:Newsom announced Monday that he has appointed David Chiappetta to serve as a judge.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Chiappetta, a Democrat, has been a partner at Perkins Coie since 2013.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Prior to that, Chiappetta was special counsel at Corrs Chambers Westgarth from 2009 to 2013 and held various other positions at other law firms in the decades prior.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>He received a Juris Doctor degree from the University of Washington School of Law.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Driving the news: The vacancy that Chiappetta is filling was made when Judge Arlan Harrell was elevated to the Court of Appeal.\u00a0\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"California Gov.
