{"id":16378,"date":"2025-10-21T19:41:14","date_gmt":"2025-10-21T19:41:14","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-ca\/16378\/"},"modified":"2025-10-21T19:41:14","modified_gmt":"2025-10-21T19:41:14","slug":"sac-mayor-says-sacramento-is-in-the-mix-for-mlb-expansion","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-ca\/16378\/","title":{"rendered":"Sac Mayor says Sacramento is &#8216;in the mix&#8217; for MLB expansion"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Following the inaugural season of Athletics baseball in Sacramento, the city is prepared to make a push towards bringing an MLB expansion team to California\u2019s capital city.<\/p>\n<p>During Tuesday morning\u2019s edition of\u00a0The Carmichael Dave Show with Jason Ross, Sacramento Mayor Kevin McCarty joined the show to share why he believes that the city is well in the mix to bid for an MLB expansion team, explain why the A\u2019s are making a better effort to engage with Sacramento during the 2026 season, and much more.<\/p>\n<p>The A\u2019s, who are slated to play at Sutter Health Park for at least the next two seasons (2026-2027), are tentatively scheduled to move into their new ballpark in Las Vegas for the 2028 season.<\/p>\n<p>While the first-year attendance numbers for MLB in Sacramento left a lot to be desired, the A\u2019s announced that they will wear a \u201cSacramento\u201d jersey in 2026, as well as host \u201cSacramento Saturdays\u201d next season, which will highlight the 916 area.<\/p>\n<p>Why should fans support the A\u2019s more in 2026? Winners will be announced on Sunday, Nov. 2, on ESPN.<\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\">Severino, 31, committed zero errors this season and ranked second among American League pitchers in assists (24). He was also ranked second among AL pitchers in defensive runs saved (6).
