{"id":164140,"date":"2026-02-04T21:41:10","date_gmt":"2026-02-04T21:41:10","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-ca\/164140\/"},"modified":"2026-02-04T21:41:10","modified_gmt":"2026-02-04T21:41:10","slug":"no-time-to-panic-sacramento-siblings-turn-sibling-teamwork-into-a-lego-masters-run","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-ca\/164140\/","title":{"rendered":"&#8216;No time to panic&#8217;: Sacramento siblings turn sibling teamwork into a LEGO Masters run"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Sacramento siblings Nick Micheels and Kyndall Raydon share their whirlwind journey on LEGO Masters Season 5, along with the intense behind-the-scenes challenges.<\/p>\n<p>SACRAMENTO, Calif. \u2014 When Nick Micheels and his sister, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.instagram.com\/blockpartykyndall\/?hl=en\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer nofollow\">Kyndall Raydon<\/a>, received a last-minute call to fly out for LEGO Masters, they had no idea the whirlwind of creativity, pressure and sibling teamwork that awaited them.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>The Sacramento duo appeared on<a href=\"https:\/\/www.fox.com\/detail\/series\/SER000843SHHP\/lego-masters\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer nofollow\">\u00a0Season 5 of the FOX competition series<\/a>, where teams of LEGO builders are challenged to create ambitious designs under extreme time constraints.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe didn\u2019t find out we were going to go on the show until the night before,\u201d Micheels says. \u201cWe got a call saying, \u2018Hey, we need you to fly out tomorrow morning.\u2019 It all happened very, very fast.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The journey to the show began online. Producers discovered Nick through his Instagram, where he shares original LEGO creations known in the LEGO community as \u201cMOCs,\u201d short for My Own Creations.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThey originally found me through my Instagram,\u201d Micheels says. \u201cI\u2019d done some fan designs and that\u2019s how they reached out to see if I was interested in the show.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>When asked who he would bring as a teammate, Micheels didn\u2019t hesitate. He said Kyndall\u2019s creativity, energy and natural personality made her the perfect choice.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>\u201cShe was high up on the list of someone I wanted to bring,\u201d Micheels says. \u201cShe\u2019s super creative, she already loves LEGO and she has the personality and vibes the show looks for.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>                <img decoding=\"async\" class=\"photo__placeholder\" loading=\"eager\" src=\"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-ca\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/02\/f6f4bff0-c33e-4cfc-a926-d299d78a31bb_16x9.jpg\"\/><br \/>\n                <img decoding=\"async\" class=\"photo__main\" loading=\"eager\" src=\"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-ca\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/02\/f6f4bff0-c33e-4cfc-a926-d299d78a31bb_1140x641.jpg\"  alt=\"\" style=\"opacity:0\" onload=\"this.style.opacity=1\"\/><\/p>\n<p>The two siblings said the opportunity to compete together made the experience unique.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe don\u2019t really argue,\u201d Raydon says. \u201cIf anything, I was trying to keep Nick from panicking.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Representing Sacramento on a national platform meant a lot to both of them.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>\u201cSacramento\u2019s creativity is exploding and we wanted to show that on a national stage,\u201d Raydon says. \u201cWe\u2019re not from the Bay Area&#8211; Sacramento.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Micheels added that being one of the only West Coast teams made the experience even more meaningful.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe really wanted to say, \u2018We\u2019re from Sacramento,\u201d Micheels said.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Filming took place in Atlanta, Georgia, where contestants spent several weeks without returning home between episodes.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>While challenges may appear seamless on TV, Micheels explained that builds are broken into multiple segments.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>\u201cYou&#8217;re not building for ten hours straight,\u201d Micheels says. \u201cIt\u2019s usually broken up into chunks, but you\u2019re still on set for about ten hours a day. It\u2019s exhausting.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Bathroom breaks actually count toward building time, Micheels said.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIf you need to go to the bathroom, that actually takes out of your building time. You can\u2019t stop the clock,\u201d Micheels said.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>                <img decoding=\"async\" class=\"photo__placeholder\" loading=\"eager\" src=\"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-ca\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/02\/e3abe4cc-b56c-42c9-9799-e0e7e509e300_16x9.jpg\"\/><br \/>\n                <img decoding=\"async\" class=\"photo__main\" loading=\"eager\" src=\"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-ca\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/02\/e3abe4cc-b56c-42c9-9799-e0e7e509e300_1140x641.jpg\"  alt=\"\" style=\"opacity:0\" onload=\"this.style.opacity=1\"\/><\/p>\n<p>Despite having access to millions of LEGO bricks, contestants don\u2019t get every part they might want.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThey told us they had the most bricks ever this season,\u201d Micheels says. \u201cBut there were still pieces we were used to using that weren\u2019t there. It really tested your problem-solving under pressure.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The first challenge brought an unexpected twist: a Star Wars-themed build instead of the Sacramento-inspired ideas the siblings had prepared.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe had ideas to build something inspired by Sacramento, the City of Trees, the Tower Bridge,\u201d Micheels says. \u201cThen we walked in and realized it was all Star Wars. We just looked at each other like, \u2018Oh no.\u2019\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Kyndall added that the sibling dynamic helped them navigate the stress during the competition.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI was just trying to keep the pace moving where we would get stuck, instead of panicking,\u201d Raydon said.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Contestants are never truly alone on set. Every moment is surrounded by cameras, crew members and boom mics. Yet camera operators are trained not to interact, which can be disorienting.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI tried saying \u2018excuse me\u2019 to a camera operator once,\u201d Micheels says. \u201cHe just ignored me completely. I realized very quickly, they do not exist.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The show\u2019s host, Will Arnett, also brought a different side to life on set. While his on-screen humor is family-friendly, the siblings saw a broader range of his comedic personality.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>\u201cHe\u2019s constantly doing bits that could never air,\u201d Micheels says. \u201cIt actually helped everyone relax.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Judges Jamie Bearard and Amy Corbett, both veteran LEGO designers, also made a lasting impression. Bearard is known for modular and architectural sets, while Corbett created the hugely popular LEGO Friends line.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThey\u2019re exactly how they seem on TV, warm, kind and incredibly knowledgeable,\u201d Micheels said.<\/p>\n<p>                <img decoding=\"async\" class=\"photo__placeholder\" loading=\"eager\" src=\"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-ca\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/02\/e5308fad-98e5-4177-bd67-d6b77e5f5b76_16x9.jpg\"\/><br \/>\n                <img decoding=\"async\" class=\"photo__main\" loading=\"eager\" src=\"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-ca\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/02\/e5308fad-98e5-4177-bd67-d6b77e5f5b76_1140x641.jpg\"  alt=\"\" style=\"opacity:0\" onload=\"this.style.opacity=1\"\/><\/p>\n<p>Since appearing on LEGO Masters, Nick\u2019s LEGO career has continued to flourish.
