{"id":164260,"date":"2026-02-04T23:08:07","date_gmt":"2026-02-04T23:08:07","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-ca\/164260\/"},"modified":"2026-02-04T23:08:07","modified_gmt":"2026-02-04T23:08:07","slug":"poly-beats-cabrillo-on-senior-night-sets-up-play-in-for-jags-the562-org","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-ca\/164260\/","title":{"rendered":"Poly Beats Cabrillo On Senior Night, Sets Up Play-In For Jags \u2013 The562.org"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The562\u2019s coverage of Long Beach Poly Athletics for the 2025-26 school year is sponsored by Former Jackrabbits\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.the562.org\/2025\/09\/19\/long-beach-poly-football-alums-wendell-moe-jr-tyson-ruffins-sponsor-the562s-coverage\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Wendell \u201cWoWo\u201d Moe, Jr. &amp; Tyson Ruffins.<\/a><\/p>\n<p>The562\u2019s coverage of Cabrillo Athletics is sponsored by<a href=\"https:\/\/www.the562.org\/2022\/03\/11\/the-cohn-family-sponsors-the562-orgs-cabrillo-coverage\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">\u00a0the Cohn Family<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>The Long Beach Poly boys\u2019 basketball team defeated Cabrillo 69\u201351 on Tuesday night, clinching the Moore League runner-up spot and a place in the CIF playoffs.<\/p>\n<p>Poly\u2019s win comes just after their loss to Millikan on Monday, marking the first time the Jackrabbits had been swept by the Rams in Moore League play since the 2005\u201306 season.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>The game also marked senior night for the Jackrabbits, giving the evening extra meaning to the players, coaches, and families.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>\u201cSenior night is always an emotional night,\u201d said Poly coach Shelton Diggs. \u201cYou try to start different guys and give different seniors a chance.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Despite the lineup changes, Poly came out focused and controlled the game early.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI mean, for me as a coach, I consider all of my players as my kids, I\u2019ve been watching them for 4 years, so it\u2019s just the culmination of their hard work here,\u201d said Diggs.<\/p>\n<p>The Jackrabbits led at the end of the first quarter, 19-7, with senior Nana Oefegbu and Junior Issac Hagens helping control the pace of the game from both sides of the floor.<\/p>\n<p>The Jackrabbits built a steady lead and went into halftime ahead 31\u201320.<\/p>\n<p>The contest\u2019s intensity spilled over to the sidelines, with referees handing out warnings to both benches.
