{"id":164774,"date":"2026-02-05T06:37:13","date_gmt":"2026-02-05T06:37:13","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-ca\/164774\/"},"modified":"2026-02-05T06:37:13","modified_gmt":"2026-02-05T06:37:13","slug":"amazon-apologizes-offers-refund-after-2000-delivery-issue-10-on-your-side","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-ca\/164774\/","title":{"rendered":"Amazon apologizes, offers refund after $2,000 delivery issue| 10 On Your Side"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>A Sacramento man faced frustration after Amazon failed to deliver a $2,000 outdoor bathroom.<\/p>\n<p>SACRAMENTO, Calif. \u2014 A Sacramento viewer says a recent purchase from Amazon proved to be a major headache and left him out thousands of dollars. <a href=\"https:\/\/www.abc10.com\/section\/on-your-side\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer nofollow\">10 On Your Side<\/a> went to straight to Amazon for answers, and the company is now apologizing. \u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Danny Portman ordered a more than $2,000 outdoor bathroom from Amazon back in November. The site claims they delivered the product with a tracking number and an alleged photo of the delivery. \u00a0But Portman says that photo they sent was a much smaller item on someone else\u2019s porch, not his.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAnd it said put on your front porch, and I\u2019m like wait a minute. This thing weighs almost 500 pounds,\u201d said Portman. \u201cIt\u2019s 10 feet tall. Seven feet by 5 feet. That\u2019s not going to fit on it. So I called up Amazon.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Portman showed us the extensive work he\u2019d done in preparation for the portable bathroom<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI put in water lines, sewer lines, gas lines\u2026everything underground. I\u2019ve got everything all prepped which costs me thousands and thousands of dollars,\u201d said Portman who made multiple calls to Amazon demanding they send what he purchased.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAnd I got nowhere with them. I talked to some managers. I even had one manager that hung up on me.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>That\u2019s when he turned to 10 On Your Side. Within days of us contacting Amazon, Portman says he received a message and apology from executive customer relations.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cYou\u2019re right. The experience you had was not ideal, nor was it what we hope for our customers,\u201d read the message from executive customer relations. \u201cAgain, I\u2019m truly sorry you haven\u2019t received your order and the price on the item has now changed. However sellers set their own prices, and we are unable to price match. While I realize it can\u2019t fully make up for what happened please accept the $100 gift card I\u2019ve issued to your account as a small gesture of goodwill\u201d. Amazon also processed a full refund of the more than $2,000 Danny spent for the outdoor bathroom.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Still, Portman says the company failed to deliver what they promised.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIf you\u2019re paying for the service for Amazon then they should do the research and they should make sure that the third party companies are selling the products and doing it right for the customers, and they\u2019re not,\u201d said Portman.<\/p>\n<p>Amazon says: \u201cThird party sellers are independent sellers who offer a variety of new, used and refurbished items. They sell their products and services alongside those sold by Amazon.com, and they set their own prices for the goods and services they offer.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>In Portman\u2019s case that third party seller is no longer listed in the Amazon marketplace, and it\u2019s a good reminder to always check reviews of those sellers before making a purchase.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Do you have a problem and don\u2019t know where else to turn?
