(KBAK\/KBFX) \u2014 A 23-year-old woman was arrested in the <a href=\"https:\/\/bakersfieldnow.com\/news\/local\/motorcyclist-dies-after-saturday-night-hit-and-run-crash-on-ming-avenue-according-to-the-bakersfield-police-department\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">suspected hit-and-run crash on Ming Avenue that later killed a motorcyclist.<\/a><\/p>\n<p>RELATED: <a href=\"https:\/\/bakersfieldnow.com\/news\/local\/motorcyclist-dies-after-saturday-night-hit-and-run-crash-on-ming-avenue-according-to-the-bakersfield-police-department\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">Motorcyclist dies after Saturday night hit-and-run crash on Ming Avenue<\/a><\/p>\n<p>The Bakersfield Police Department said on January 31, 2026, at around 10:44 p.m., officers were called to the 4500 block of Ming Avenue, near Stine Road, regarding a crash between a vehicle and a motorcycle.<\/p>\n<p>When officers arrived, officers found the motorcyclist, a man, who was suffering from apparent non-life-threatening injuries. The involved vehicle, described as a white sedan, drove away from the scene prior to officers\u2019 arrival.<\/p>\n<p>Police said a preliminary investigation found the motorcycle, a black Kawasaki, was traveling eastbound on Ming Avenue when the white sedan made an unsafe turning maneuver, causing the crash.<\/p>\n<p>Police said on February 1, 2026, at approximately 1:30 a.m., officers contacted a woman who was believed to be the driver of the white sedan.<\/p>\n<p>On February 1, 2026, at around 9:30 a.m., the motorcyclist died from his injuries while receiving medical care at an out-of-town hospital.<\/p>\n<p>The Bakersfield Police Department said after further investigation, officers arrested 23-year-old Martha Obregonperez on Wednesday, February 4, 2026, for vehicular manslaughter and hit and run causing death.<\/p>\n<p>Comment with Bubbles<\/p>\n<p>BE THE FIRST TO COMMENT<\/p>\n<p>She was booked into Lerdo Detention Facility.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"BAKERSFIELD, Calif.
