Super Bowl LX weekend<\/a> is here! Whether you’re going to the big game or just taking in the fun, exploring the San Francisco Bay Area<\/a> offers an eclectic range of restaurants, neighborhoods, and culture to take in.<\/p>\n

Sunday’s game is being played at Levi’s Stadium<\/a>\u2014home to the San Francisco 49ers, but that’s where the confusion starts. Levi’s Stadium is not in San Francisco<\/a>, but rather in Santa Clara<\/a>\u2014about 45 minutes southeast.<\/p>\n

It’s all part of the Bay Area and home to Silicon Valley, where many tech giants are headquartered. We’re talking Nvidia (Santa Clara), Apple (Cupertino<\/a>), Meta (Menlo Park<\/a>), HP (Palo Alto<\/a>), and PayPal (San Jose<\/a>), among others.<\/p>\n

“San Francisco neighborhoods\u00a0offer iconic culture, history, and world-class food and shopping, perfect for visitors hitting the Super Bowl weekend,” Kat Sellis, real estate agent with GoodAgent.org<\/a> in Northern California, tells Realtor.com\u00ae<\/a>.<\/p>\n

The Bay Area also stands out when it comes to finding the right home: There are many neighborhoods to choose from, and they offer various price ranges.<\/p>\n

San Francisco<\/p>\n

San Francisco<\/a>, known for trolley cars, seafood, and Alcatraz Island, has a median list price of $1,062,500, as of January 2026.<\/p>\n

“Downtown San Francisco presents\u00a0dense, walkable city living\u00a0with condos and classic Victorians priced at a premium,” Sellis says.<\/p>\n

Sellis suggests the following sights to check out:<\/p>\n

Fisherman\u2019s Wharf and Pier 39: Classic waterfront attractions, scenic views, seafood kiosks, shops, and ferries to Alcatraz.<\/p>\n

Union Square and Downtown: High-end fashion boutiques, flagship stores, galleries, theaters, and vibrant nightlife.<\/p>\n

Mission District and Castro: The Mission is a foodie destination with taquerias, murals, and lively bars, while the Castro combines cultural history with caf\u00e9s and nightlife.<\/p>\n

Haight-Ashbury and North Beach: Haight-Ashbury offers a vintage and counterculture vibe, while North Beach delivers classic Italian eats and caf\u00e9s.<\/p>\n

Richmond and Sunset: Local gems for eclectic food, caf\u00e9s, and access to Golden Gate Park and Ocean Beach.<\/p>\n

“Shopping highlights\u00a0include boutique-laden streets for artisanal finds and locally made goods, from unique gift shops to curated fashion stops throughout the city\u2019s vibrant districts,” Sellis says.<\/p>\n

Palo Alto<\/p>\n

Farther away from downtown San Francisco (about 33 miles), visitors will notice the breathtaking landscapes of Northern California, whether you’re inland or along the coast.<\/p>\n

Palo Alto is the tech wealth center located in Silicon Valley. Stanford University is its jewel, with notable alum including Google founders Larry Page<\/a> and Sergey Brin<\/a>; Tesla’s Elon Musk<\/a>; and Nvidia’s CEO Jensen Huang<\/a>. It’s also the location where the New England Patriots are practicing ahead of the big game.<\/p>\n

The January 2026 median list price in Palo Alto is $2,641,500.<\/p>\n

“Palo Alto and nearby Silicon Valley suburbs\u00a0represent some of the country\u2019s most\u00a0expensive and sought-after markets,” Sellis explains. “Areas like Palo Alto, Los Altos<\/a>, and Portola Valley<\/a> have seen\u00a0significant price appreciation\u00a0and some of the highest price per square foot in the Bay Area, driven by proximity to tech campuses and elite schools.”<\/p>\n

Sellis says both Palo Alto and Menlo Park\u00a0have an array of boutiques, brunch spots, and wine bars along University Avenue. The area isn’t at a loss for Michelin restaurants, with Zola (French), Ettan (Indian), and Ethel’s Fancy (California) located right off of University Avenue.<\/p>\n

The Four Seasons and Nobu Hotels are a few luxury hotels in Palo Alto, and the Stanford Shopping Center is an upscale open-air mall with anchor stores Neiman Marcus, Bloomingdale’s, and Nordstrom.<\/p>\n

Santa Clara<\/p>\n

Santa Clara is ground zero for Super Bowl LX<\/a> and Levi’s Stadium, which will also host the FIFA World Cup<\/a>. This California city is the headquarters to several tech giants, including Nvidia, Intel, and Ericsson.<\/p>\n

The median home list price in January is $1,544,000.<\/p>\n

“Santa Clara offers a\u00a0more suburban profile\u00a0than downtown San Francisco, but still commands strong pricing due to its location near major employers and amenities,” Sellis explains.<\/p>\n

Like other cities across the country, Santa Clara offers the conveniences of a Target, shopping malls, and chain and fast-food restaurants.<\/p>\n

“Median prices here often reflect South Bay demand without the intense urban density of San Francisco or the ultrapremium markets of Palo Alto,” says Sellis.<\/p>\n

Neighboring city San Jose is the largest Silicon Valley city and the headquarters of Cisco and Adobe. It’s also where the Seattle Seahawks are practicing for Sunday’s game\u2014at San Jose State University.<\/p>\n

Sellis says San Jose spans a\u00a0broad range of housing types, from historical architecture to modern developments.<\/p>\n

“It\u2019s generally more accessible than Palo Alto and often offers more space for the money, though pricing remains elevated relative to national averages due to ongoing tech demand.”<\/p>\n

Northern California highlights<\/p>\n

The Bay Area offers something for everyone, whether you’re an indoor or outdoor enthusiast. The various suburbs give house hunters a chance to find the right price range with the right neighborhood vibe.<\/p>\n

Sellis describes the Bay Area housing markets:<\/p>\n

San Francisco: Iconic city living with culture, transit, and tight housing.<\/p>\n

Palo Alto\/Silicon Valley: Ultrapremium, tech-infused markets.<\/p>\n

Santa Clara and San Jose: High demand but broader housing mix and value tiers.<\/p>\n

“Despite the broader U.S. market cooling in many regions, tech-driven metros like San Francisco and San Jose saw homes selling\u00a0above asking price\u00a0thanks to strong local demand and strategic pricing,” says Sellis.<\/p>\n
