A Fullerton man was sentenced Friday to 17 years in federal prison for selling a fatal dose of fentanyl to a childhood friend.<\/p>\n
Myles Ray Miller, 28, pleaded guilty Oct. 22 to distribution of fentanyl resulting in death and possession with the intent to distribute fentanyl.<\/p>\n
Miller, who has been behind bars since his arrest in May 2025, faced between 14 and 17 years, with federal prosecutors recommending the maximum punishment to U.S. District Judge John Holcomb.<\/p>\n
On March 18, 2022, Miller sold a dose of fentanyl to his childhood friend for $40, according to prosecutors. The two met near Miller\u2019s residence in Fullerton.<\/p>\n
Assistant U.S. Attorney Greg Staples said in a sentencing brief that \u201cselling a\u00a0drug\u00a0that kills its buyer is a serious offense. In mitigation, defendant did not intend to kill (the victim), his childhood friend.\u201d<\/p>\n
Staples noted that Miller \u201ccontinued to sell fentanyl after learning that (the victim) died from a fentanyl overdose.\u201d<\/p>\n
The family of the victim, who was not identified, supported a 17-year sentence, Staples said.<\/p>\n
