Long Beach, CA \u2013 A woman died when her vehicle collided with a box truck on the Gerald Desmond Bridge in Long Beach early Thursday morning, the California Highway Patrol reported.<\/p>\n
The wreck happened on the southbound side of the bridge near Pier D, just before 1:25 a.m. December 19.<\/p>\n
The woman was riding in a silver SUV that crashed with the box truck and rolled over. The SUV came to a rest in the roadway blocking lanes of traffic.<\/p>\n
At about 3:54 a.m., the CHP were notified that the woman had succumbed to her injuries. It\u2019s unclear whether the woman died at a hospital or while enroute.<\/p>\n
The victim\u2019s identity was withheld pending notification of the next of kin. No other injuries were reported in the incident.<\/p>\n
The crash caused the closure of the bridge and traffic was diverted onto the new Long Beach International Gateway Bridge until around 4:40 p.m. when the bridge was reopened.<\/p>\n
No additional details were immediately released. The California Highway Patrol (htttps:\/\/chpmadeformore.com\/) is working to determine the cause of the collision.<\/p>\n
