Freezing temperatures are being blamed for another water main break on Long Island – this time in Oceanside.

Liberty Water says a pipe broke around 1 a.m. Sunday on Waukena Avenue, between Long Beach Road and Oceanside Road.

Neighbors in the area woke up to ice-covered streets and sidewalks, creating slippery conditions that required salting.

Crews were on scene throughout the morning making repairs. This marks the second water main break in Oceanside so far this winter.

“It’s a little disheartening,” said Oceanside resident Kim Clarke. “You would hope the infrastructure in place could put up the good fight. But things break, and you have to do the best you can do with what you are given.”

Liberty Water says about 25 customers were affected by the break. The company said repairs will be restored this afternoon.

Freezing temperatures are being blamed for another water main break on Long Island – this time in Oceanside.…

[33
131,133,132,3282,5007,19577
post-169626","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","category-long-beach","tag-long-beach","tag-long-beach-headlines","tag-long-beach-news","tag-oceanside","tag-repairs","tag-water-main-break
["GET
