A woman riding a bicycle was struck and killed by a speeding car in a hit-and-run in Long Beach on Saturday, authorities said.<\/p>\n
Officers sent to the intersection of Redondo Avenue and East Second Street around 4:50 p.m. on Feb. 7 located the woman and a bystander who was rendering aid, according to Long Beach police Officer Jordan McGinley.<\/p>\n
Paramedics rushed her to a hospital, where she later died from her injuries, McGinley said.<\/p>\n
The bicyclist was heading southbound on Redondo Avenue when she entered the intersection with East Second Street. A 2025 gray Hyundai Sonata was traveling westbound on East Second Street.<\/p>\n
The car entered the intersection with Redondo Avenue \u201cat a high rate of speed,\u201d McGinley continued.<\/p>\n
It did not stop at the stop sign and collided with the bicyclist, he said.<\/p>\n
\u201cThe Hyundai Sonata fled the scene and was last seen traveling westbound on East Second Street from Redondo Avenue,\u201d McGinley added.<\/p>\n
