The Sacramento Kings will be without recently-acquired forward De\u2019Andre Hunter through at least the All-Star break.<\/p>\n

Hunter, who exited Friday night\u2019s game after being hit in the left eye during Friday\u2019s matchup against the Los Angeles Clippers at Golden 1 Center, will be sidelined for the next ten days after being diagnosed with iritis.<\/p>\n

Iritis is inflammation of the iris (the colored part of the eye) that can cause eye pain, redness, light sensitivity, and blurred vision.<\/p>\n

Sacramento has two games remaining before the start of the All-Star break, which runs from Thursday, February 12th, through Wednesday, February 18th.<\/p>\n

Hunter\u2019s next chance to suit up will be when the Kings return to Golden 1 Center on Thursday, February 19th.<\/p>\n

The Sacramento Kings acquired De\u2019Andre Hunter in a pre-trade-deadline deal with the Cavaliers that sent guards Keon Ellis and Dennis Schroder to Cleveland.<\/p>\n

Hunter, a 28-year-old veteran forward, has scored 15 points on four-of-19 (21%) shooting from the field over parts of two games with the Kings.<\/p>\n

Adding Hunter to the fold gives Sacramento another versatile forward to play alongside Keegan Murray, who is also on the mend as he recovers from an ankle sprain.<\/p>\n

Playing Hunter and Murray in the same front court appears to be general manager Scott Perry\u2019s vision for the rest of this season (and 2026-27) as the Sacramento Kings attempt to rebuild this flawed roster.<\/p>\n

Sacramento, owner of the worst record in the NBA, is in a transitional period in which rookies and young players will get more minutes over the final two months of the regular season as Perry evaluates future decisions.<\/p>\n

With Hunter and Murray sidelined, 2025 first-round pick Nique Clifford has seized the moment as he plays extended minutes.<\/p>\n

The 24th overall selection from last summer\u2019s NBA Draft scored a career-high 30 points during Sacramento\u2019s loss to Cleveland<\/a> on Saturday, marking the fourth time over the past five games he has scored 14 points or more.<\/p>\n

Over the past five games, Clifford is averaging 16.2 points, 3.0 rebounds, 3.2 assists, and 1.2 steals per game on 50 percent shooting from the field, 50 percent from three-point range, and 93 percent from the foul line on 32.4 minutes per contest.<\/p>\n
