SAN JOSE \u2014 A woman died Saturday after being struck by a vehicle that then fled the scene, authorities said.<\/p>\n
The incident occurred around 6:20 a.m. in the area of Capitol Avenue and Longford Drive, according to a press release from the San Jose Police Department.<\/p>\n
A driver had been traveling northbound on Captiol Avenue when they struck a pedestrian crossing the street, authorities said.<\/p>\n
The pedestrian, an adult female, was taken to a hospital where she later died of her injuries, authorities added. Her identity will be released by the Santa Clara County Coroner\u2019s Office pending identification.<\/p>\n
The suspect, who remains unknown, fled the scene before police arrived, authorities said. They do not know the make of the involved vehicle.<\/p>\n
The death marks San Jose\u2019s fourth traffic fatality, fourth fatal collision and third pedestrian death of the year.<\/p>\n
