Here\u2019s how to watch"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">Dozens of shooting stars will dash across the California night sky as a radiant meteor show reaches its peak.<\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">During the height of the <a href=\"https:\/\/science.nasa.gov\/solar-system\/meteors-meteorites\/orionids\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" data-ylk=\"slk:Orionid meteor shower;elm:context_link;itc:0;sec:content-canvas\" class=\"link \">Orionid meteor shower<\/a>, up to 20 meteors an hour are expected to pass overhead, NASA said.<\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">The \u201cspectacular show\u201d will peak at the same time as the October new moon, according to NASA.<\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">Here\u2019s how to watch the shimmering celestial show:<\/p>\n<p>What is the Orionid meteor shower?<\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">The Orionids are visible each October as the Earth moves through debris trailing from <a href=\"https:\/\/www.space.com\/19878-halleys-comet.html\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" data-ylk=\"slk:Halley\u2019s Comet;elm:context_link;itc:0;sec:content-canvas\" class=\"link \">Halley\u2019s Comet<\/a>, according to NASA.<\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">It\u2019s the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.timeanddate.com\/astronomy\/meteor-shower\/orionid.html\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" data-ylk=\"slk:second meteor shower;elm:context_link;itc:0;sec:content-canvas\" class=\"link \">second meteor shower<\/a> of the year \u2014 following the Eta Aquarids in May \u2014 that are created from the comet\u2019s dust, according to Time and Date, an online calendar.<\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">The Orionid meteor shower is named after Orion since shooting stars appear to \u201cemerge or radiate from the same area in the sky as the constellation,\u201d Time and Date said.<\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">The <a href=\"https:\/\/science.nasa.gov\/solar-system\/meteors-meteorites\/orionids\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" data-ylk=\"slk:dazzling shower;elm:context_link;itc:0;sec:content-canvas\" class=\"link \">dazzling shower<\/a> started Sept. 26 and continues through Saturday, Nov. 22, according to NASA.<\/p>\n<p><img alt=\"An Orionid meteor recorded by the NASA All Sky Fireball Network station on top of Mt.
