UKIAH, CA., 2\/10\/26 \u2013\u00a0Ukiah police arrested an Oakland man on suspicion of attempted murder over the weekend for allegedly attacking his two elderly friends with a skateboard at their North Oak Street home. <\/p>\n
On Saturday at about 7:30 p.m., 37-year-old Clarence Wells of Oakland called Ukiah police to report that his friends, a 75-year-old man and a 72-year-old woman, weren\u2019t breathing and needed medical attention, according to police officials. <\/p>\n
Wells allegedly said he didn\u2019t know what happened to the pair and reported that there was a gun in the house but he didn\u2019t know where it was.<\/p>\n
Officers were sent to the house, surrounded it, and used a loudspeaker to order anyone inside to come out, police officials said in a news release Monday. <\/p>\n
When they didn\u2019t get a response, officers entered the home to find Wells laying on the floor \u201cawaiting UPD arrival,\u201d according to police.<\/p>\n
Officers also found the victims with serious wounds to their heads.<\/p>\n
Police believe that Wells, who was temporarily staying with the couple, hit them repeatedly with a skateboard following an argument. <\/p>\n
Both victims were taken by ambulance to the hospital and both were later flown out of the county for treatment and were likely in stable condition, police said.<\/p>\n
Police don\u2019t yet know the motive for the attack or what the argument was about. <\/p>\n
Wells was booked into the Mendocino County Jail on suspicion of attempted murder, assault with a deadly weapon and causing injury likely to cause death to an elder adult.<\/p>\n
His bail is set at $1 million. <\/p>\n
