{"id":172359,"date":"2026-02-10T20:41:08","date_gmt":"2026-02-10T20:41:08","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-ca\/172359\/"},"modified":"2026-02-10T20:41:08","modified_gmt":"2026-02-10T20:41:08","slug":"fresno-woman-sentenced-for-arming-son-a-gang-member-and-convicted-felon","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-ca\/172359\/","title":{"rendered":"Fresno woman sentenced for arming son, a gang member and convicted felon"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Jawana Washington, 45, of Fresno, was sentenced to 18 months in prison for aiding and abetting a felon in possession of a firearm and disposing of a firearm to a felon.<\/p>\n<p>Washington was <a href=\"https:\/\/kmph.com\/news\/local\/mother-convicted-of-providing-firearm-to-gang-member-son-faces-up-to-10-years-in-prison\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">convicted on September 3rd<\/a>, following a one-day trial. <\/p>\n<p>Court documents revealed that she knowingly provided her firearm to her son, Taylor Washington, a documented gang member and convicted felon. <\/p>\n<p>On March 25, 2022, she lent him her firearm, cautioning him not to do anything &#8220;crazy&#8221; and to use his own ammunition. <\/p>\n<p>Minutes later, agents saw Taylor Washington at his mother&#8217;s apartment complex. <\/p>\n<p>During a traffic stop, officers recovered a Springfield Armory XD-9 handgun registered to Jawana Washington from the car&#8217;s center console. <\/p>\n<p>After the stop, she exchanged messages acknowledging her son had her firearm and instructed him to delete incriminating texts. <\/p>\n<p>The case was investigated by multiple agencies, including the FBI and Fresno Police Department, and prosecuted by Assistant U.S. Attorneys Justin J. Gilio and Antonio J.
