MONTGOMERY, Texas \u2013 The Oakland University men’s golf team began its spring season at the Bentwater Intercollegiate, finishing in a tie for tenth place at the Bentwater Country Club’s Miller Course (par-71, 6,788 yds) on Tuesday.<\/p>\n
Sophomore Brennan Sullivan<\/a> led the Golden Grizzlies, achieving his best finish of the season with a score of 223 (+10), marking his third season-best score overall. Sullivan earned a top-40 finish and recorded eight birdies over the three rounds.<\/p>\n Juniors Jack Zubkus<\/a> and Matteo Rocco<\/a>, along with senior Luke Kelly<\/a>, finished tied for 52nd with a score of 226 (+13). Collectively, these three golfers made 19 birdies, with Kelly matching Sullivan’s eight. Among all participants, Rocco recorded the eighth most pars during the tournament, totaling 34. Senior Ellis Kinnaird<\/a> completed the scoring for the Golden Grizzlies, finishing five strokes behind the trio with a score of 231 (+18).<\/p>\n As a team, Oakland posted the second-best average score on par-3 holes with 3.29, trailing only the runner-up and host team, Sam Houston. The Golden Grizzlies also tied for fourth in pars made at the Bentwater Intercollegiate, with 152, alongside Baylor.<\/p>\n In the first tournament of the spring season, Oakland performed one stroke better than their last invitational in Dayton, Ohio.
