LAS VEGAS \u2013 Colby Garland<\/a> recorded 23 points and Pasha Goodarzi<\/a> scored a career-high 21 points to lead the San Jos\u00e9 State men\u2019s basketball team (6-18, 1-12 MW) in a 82-75 loss to UNLV (12-12, 7-6 MW) Tuesday night from the Thomas & Mack Center.<\/p>\n

San Jos\u00e9 State erased an early nine-point deficit and took a three point lead in the first half, but trailed just 45-41 at halftime. The Spartans tied the game at 49-49 early in the second half, but UNLV used a 13-6 run midway through the period to build its largest lead of 13 points with 8:56 remaining. San Jos\u00e9 State closed the gap to three points in the final three minutes, but could not complete the comeback.<\/p>\n

Melvin Bell Jr.<\/a> recorded nine points and four rebounds. Sadraque NgaNga<\/a> tallied nine points and eight rebounds off the bench. The Spartans played only seven guys as multiple players were sidelined with injuries. Both Garland and Goodarzi played all 40 minutes.<\/p>\n
