BAKERSFIELD, Calif.(KBAK\/KBFX) \u2014 California Highway Patrol Fort Tejon is closely monitoring road conditions as Kern County prepares for incoming storms. <\/p>\n

Officer DC Williams emphasized the importance of safe driving, particularly for large vehicles like big rigs, during windy conditions. “Those are the vehicles that are most at risk are the ones that are driving way too fast because in winds like this you\u2019ve got to slow down,” DC Williams said. <\/p>\n

The National Weather Service<\/a> reported wind gusts up to 60 mph, raising concerns about dangerous driving conditions and the risk of valley fever. Health officials recommend limiting outdoor activities and wearing N95 masks during dusty conditions.<\/p>\n

Chief Meteorologist Ilya Neyman described the current weather as “kind of like a modest storm system,” with light showers expected this week. However, Neyman warned of a “substantial storm pattern” next week with potential high impacts across the West Coast. <\/p>\n
