Bijou Phillips needs a kidney donor and she\u2019s asking the public for help. <\/p>\n
\u201cI need help finding a new kidney,\u201d the actor wrote in an Instagram<\/a> post Wednesday. \u201cI\u2019m asking as a friend, a sister, an aunt and, most importantly, a single mother to an incredible and brave daughter. I am in need of a kidney.\u201d <\/p>\n According to her Instagram post, Phillips was born with an underdeveloped kidney. She said she previously received a kidney in 2017 \u201cfrom a dear friend\u201d but that she has faced \u201cmany complications since,\u201d including the BK virus. Per the National Kidney Foundation<\/a>, the BK virus is common and usually inactive, but it can \u201cwake up\u201d when a person\u2019s immune system is compromised \u2014 like after an organ transplant \u2014 and affect the success of the transplant. <\/p>\n Phillips is hospitalized at UCLA Health and in stable condition for now, TMZ<\/a> reported. <\/p>\n Phillips, who is back on dialysis while she awaits a transplant, also shared a link to a living donor form<\/a> on her Instagram for people interested in getting the voluntary donation process started. <\/p>\n \u201cPlease help me find a living donor so that I can have more time with my daughter, family, and friends,\u201d Phillips wrote. \u201cTime is of the essence.\u201d <\/p>\n Phillips shares a daughter with ex-husband Danny Masterson<\/a>. Fianna Francis was born<\/a> in 2014. <\/p>\n Masterson was convicted<\/a> in 2023 of raping two former members of the Church of Scientology and was sentenced to 30 years to life in prison. He filed a petition<\/a> to overturn the conviction last year. <\/p>\n
