INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. \u2013 For the second week in a row, the #HLTEN Singles Player of the Week belongs to Oakland University, with sophomore Martyna Piechowicz<\/a> receiving the honor on Wednesday.<\/p>\n Piechowicz earned this recognition for the week of February 4-10 after going undefeated over the weekend in matches against Dayton and Miami (OH), competing as the No. 2 player. She was one of three Golden Grizzlies who went undefeated in singles play, alongside last week’s Singles Player of the Week, freshman Oliwia Klimas<\/a>, and junior Edie Hammond<\/a>. Notably, Piechowicz was the only one among them to go undefeated in doubles play as well.<\/p>\n In her first match against the Flyers, Piechowicz faced Dayton’s Baby Jordan. After winning the first set 6-4, Piechowicz lost the second set 4-6. With the match on the line in the final set, Piechowicz regained control and sealed the match with a 6-2 victory, contributing to the team’s 5-2 win over Dayton.<\/p>\n Against the RedHawks, Piechowicz\u00a0faced Allie Faulkner, and Piechowicz once again took the first match, winning 6-4. In a tightly contested second set that went to extra points, Piechowicz dropped the set 6(4)-7. Despite the setback, Piechowicz remained focused and secured the final set, 6-3. Although she earned a crucial point for the Golden Grizzlies, Miami (OH) won the overall match, 4-3.<\/p>\n The 2025 Horizon League Individual Singles Champion continues to impress this season, and this #HLTEN honor highlights her performances.
