HAVRE, Mont. (February 10, 2025) \u2013 The Montana Contractors Association (MCA) recognized 18
projects and 12 different Montana contractors for excellence in construction during their annual winter
convention in Helena.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe are proud to honor Montana contractors for their exceptional expertise,\u201d said David Smith, MCA
Executive Director. \u201cThis acknowledgment not only showcases their remarkable skills but also
emphasizes a steadfast commitment to quality and excellence in supporting our communities.\u201d
In the face of fierce competition across all categories, the remarkable quality of each project positions
Montana\u2019s construction industry as a true leader among the finest in the nation. The Excellence in
Construction Awards celebrate outstanding contractors and projects while reinforcing the strength and
dedication of Montana\u2019s workforce.<\/p>\n
MCA member NW Construction, Inc. earned recognition as the 2025 \u201cBest Water, Sewer, Utilities
Project\u201d in the MCA\u2019s category of Concrete Excellence.

Project: Fresno Dam and Reservoir Modifications<\/p>\n
The design called for extensive strengthening and upgrades to an existing earthen dam. Key components
included installing an extensive dewatering system, constructing a vertical sand filter trench, developing
a zoned dam embankment, and implementing a toe-drain system, all within a demanding schedule. The
project was distinguished by its advanced water management strategies, confined site constraints, phased
seasonal construction and technical sophistication. A combination of precast and flow-fill concrete
created a reliable and stable system. It was completed four months ahead of schedule.
The MCA is in its third decade of presenting construction awards. The first recipients were recognized
for concrete excellence in 2003. Additional categories have been added throughout the years. The
MCA\/MDT partnering award was presented for the first time in 2021. Contractors submit their projects
for consideration, projects are reviewed and judged by a panel of their peers<\/p>\n
