Fresno State has summer camps and programs that allow everyone from children to adults to explore the areas of agriculture, engineering, music or sports science while on the Fresno State campus and other venues.\u00a0<\/p>\n

The following summer programs will be offered:\u00a0<\/p>\n

College of Health and Human Services \u2013 Department of Kinesiology Sports Science Camp<\/p>\n

For high school students.<\/p>\n

The cost is free.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Hosted by the Department of Kinesiology and the Central California Sports Science Institute at Fresno State, the Sports Science Camp is a three-day immersive program where high school students will actively learn about careers in kinesiology through hands-on experiences in physical education, exercise sciences, athletic training and sport psychology. Fresno Unified high school students who are in their school\u2019s health pathway program are able to register for this free program. Fresno Orchestra Summer Academy \u2013 FOOSA<\/p>\n

For musicians ages 5 to 40.<\/p>\n

There is a $75 audition fee. Tuition ranges from $575 to $1,975 depending on the program. Dorm cost is $650, if needed. All Fresno State students receive scholarships to participate in the FOOSA Festival.\u00a0<\/p>\n

FOOSA is a collaboration between The Youth Orchestras of Fresno and Fresno State that provides musicians with two weeks of daily lessons, orchestra rehearsals, sectionals, recital opportunities, a concerto competition and concert performances in some of California\u2019s most prestigious concert halls.<\/p>\n

The FOOSA Philharmonic is a pre-professional orchestra in which program participants perform side by side with faculty members. Artistic director and conductor Thomas Loewenheim challenges the orchestra with significant orchestral masterpieces. This year, the Grammy-considered FOOSA Philharmonic will take on Richard Strauss\u2019s Alpine Symphony and Bela Bartok\u2019s Miraculous Mandarin Suite at The Music Center\u2019s Walt Disney Concert Hall in Los Angeles.<\/p>\n

The FOOSA Symphony provides advanced high school and college musicians opportunities to perform standard orchestral repertoire and chamber music, alongside faculty members. Guest conductor Charles Latshaw will lead this year\u2019s orchestra, which will be performing Borodin\u2019s Symphony No. 2 and conclude with a concert at the Paul Shaghoian Memorial Concert Hall.\u00a0<\/p>\n

The FOOSA Chamber Orchestra, led by guest conductor Duncan Smith, is a strings-only program for pre-college musicians (generally age 14 and under). Participants receive group lessons, sectional and rehearsal opportunities, concluding with a final concert at Fresno State.<\/p>\n

Jordan College of Agricultural Sciences and Technology \u2013 Kids ag camp<\/p>\n

For children ages 7 to 11, this camp offers two sessions.<\/p>\n

Session 1: 8 a.m.-noon June 15-19, youth ages 7-9.<\/p>\n

Session 2: 8 a.m.-noon June 22-26, youth ages 10-11.<\/p>\n

The cost is $175 for early registration and $200 after May 15.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Hosted by the Fresno State Institute for Food and Agriculture, children can experience one of the largest, most successful agriculture programs in the country and go behind the scenes at a student-run operation that includes orchards, vineyards, vegetable and row crops, livestock units, dairy, the farm market and more. Led by Fresno State agricultural students, 30 youth will take part each week in hands-on farm, food and agriculture activities that emphasize art and education. Lyles College of Engineering Summer Camps<\/p>\n

For children in grades 1 through 12, this camp offers four sessions. The session for grades 3-5 is already closed for registration.\u00a0<\/p>\n

9 a.m.-1 p.m. July 6-10: Elementary (grades 1-2)<\/p>\n

9 a.m.-3 p.m. June 15-19: Middle school (grades 6-8)<\/p>\n

9 a.m.-3 p.m. June 22-26: High school (grades 9-12)<\/p>\n

The cost is $250 per student (includes lunch and T-shirt).\u00a0
The Lyles College of Engineering will hold five-day camps in June and July for students of all grades. The camps will feature hands-on engineering, architectural studies and construction management activities that showcase multiple disciplines and applications. All camps have a registration fee of $250, which includes lunch and a T-shirt. Camps for middle and high school students include a field trip.
