Local 4 is confirming police are still searching for a second suspect involved in the attack<\/a>.<\/p>\nAuthorities say the arrested suspect, an 18-year-old from Rochester, was taken into custody during a traffic stop. <\/p>\n
Prosecutors have charged him with assault with intent to murder, and he is scheduled for arraignment on Friday (Feb 13).<\/p>\n
The incident occurred on Thursday (Feb. 5) evening outside Van Waggoner Hall. <\/p>\n
When officers arrived, they found the victim\u2014also 18 and from Rochester\u2014with multiple stab wounds. <\/p>\n
The victim underwent surgery and is now recovering.<\/p>\n
Oakland University Police Chief Mark Gordon credited the campus security camera system and assistance from the Oakland County Sheriff\u2019s Office for identifying the suspect. <\/p>\n
He praised the dedication of officers and detectives working on the case and thanked the public for providing helpful information.<\/p>\n
\u201cI want to commend the professionalism and dedication of our patrol officers, our detectives, and support staff who worked around the clock on this case. Their commitment to protecting our community and holding offenders accountable was unwavering. The second suspect remains at large. <\/p>\n
Police describe him as a man in his late 20s with curly hair, standing about 5 feet 8 inches to 5 feet 10 inches tall. <\/p>\n
Authorities urge anyone with information to come forward.<\/p>\n
