Tiki has surveyed the musical landscape and selected eight upcoming San Diego concerts \u2014\u00a0five local acts and three touring \u2014\u00a0for your musical enjoyment and edification.<\/p>\n<p>Whether your tastes run to film soundtracks, jazz standards, or soulful blues, you\u2019ll find something to satisfy your audio appetite.<\/p>\n<p>Morricone Youth<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/timesofsandiego.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/02\/LF2-12-Morricone-Youth.jpg?ssl=1\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\"><img loading=\"lazy\" data-recalc-dims=\"1\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"670\" height=\"446\" src=\"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-ca\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/02\/LF2-12-Morricone-Youth.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-366821\" style=\"width:810px;height:auto\"  \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Former San Diego guitarist Devon Goldberg, aka Devon E. Levins (<a href=\"https:\/\/www.sandiegoreader.com\/bands\/creedle\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Creedle<\/a>,\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.sandiegoreader.com\/bands\/rust\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Rust<\/a>), founded the soundtrack-inspired\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.sandiegoreader.com\/bands\/morricone-youth\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Morricone Youth<\/a>\u00a0in 1999, a year after moving to New York from San Diego. He\u2019d gone to college here and played in bands like the Holy Love Snakes, performing bits and pieces of film soundtracks rather than the usual cover songs.\u00a0After being joined in NYC by relocated San Diegans from bands like\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.sandiegoreader.com\/bands\/rugburns\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">the Rugburns<\/a>,\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.sandiegoreader.com\/bands\/aminiature\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">aMiniature<\/a>, and\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.sandiegoreader.com\/bands\/crash-worship\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Crash Worship<\/a>, his next group\u00a0Morricone Youth released its first original CD in late 2005,\u00a0Silenzio Violento, full of sounds that recall noir thrillers, monster movies, and spaghetti westerns. Though reminiscent of work done by cinematic composers such as Lalo Schifrin, Henry Mancini, and Ennio Morricone, the tracks are originals.\u00a0For this Balboa Park performance, Morricone Youth will provide a live soundtrack to\u00a0Lotte Reiniger\u2019s 1926 German silhouette animation silent film classic\u00a0The Adventures of Prince Achmed, utilizing arrangements from their 2016 EP of the same name.<\/p>\n<p>Where: Panama 66, 1450 El Prado, San Diego<\/p>\n<p>When: Thursday, February 12, 2026, at 8 pm<\/p>\n<p>Ages: 18+<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.eventbrite.com\/e\/the-adventures-of-prince-achmed-with-morricone-youth-tickets-1980348651125?aff=oddtdtcreator\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Get tickets<\/a><\/p>\n<p>Micky Dolenz<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/timesofsandiego.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/02\/tempMickyDolenz.jpg?ssl=1\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\"><img loading=\"lazy\" data-recalc-dims=\"1\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"780\" height=\"520\" src=\"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-ca\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/02\/1770944590_499_tempMickyDolenz.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-366826\"  \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/mickydolenz.com\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Micky Dolenz<\/a>\u00a0of the Monkees still fondly recalls when the\u00a0foursome shot scenes for their TV show pilot episode \u201cRoyal Flush\u201d at the\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.sandiegoreader.com\/weblogs\/bands\/2007\/sep\/16\/day-the-monkees-turned-del-mar-into-clarksville\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Hotel Del Coronado<\/a>\u00a0on\u00a0November 13 through 22, 1965, including the country club and bar sequences. Exterior scenes were filmed on the beach near the Hotel. This footage would also turn up in the series original title sequence, as well as throughout the episode \u201cHere Come the Monkees.\u201d \u201cNone of us had any idea that those days on the beach and around that beautiful old hotel would launch something that would stay with us for the rest of our lives,\u201d Dolenz recently posted on Facebook for the 60th anniversary of the band\u2019s Coronado sojourn. \u201cI was just a young actor having fun and doing the work alongside Davy, Peter, and Michael. Then suddenly, the whole world changed. The show, the records, the touring, it all grew out of that first little pilot shoot. I\u2019m grateful every time I think about it. The friends I made. The music we created. The people who\u2019ve stayed with us for decades. I kept a lot of notes and photos back then, and when I go through them now I shake my head and smile. We were kids doing a job. Hall\u2019s song \u201cUnder My Voodoo\u201d is among more than 30 never-before-released acoustic tracks on the compilation album\u00a0The House That Bradley Built, featuring music from and inspired by the catalog of Bradley Nowell\u2019s band Sublime. The track earned Hall a 2021 San Diego Music Award for Best Americana, Jazz or Blues Song. His\u00a02024 album Howl &amp; Sway reached number one on the Apple iTunes Blues chart, also winning Best Blues Album at that year\u2019s San Diego Music Awards.\u00a0Hall is billing this Oceanside performance as Hearts Of Black and Blue, also featuring Coupe Dville, Chunky Hustle Brass, Rey Wolf, and a DJ set from Tah Rei. He\u00a0has performed worldwide, and his venues have included concert halls, cruise ships, libraries, and Hollywood parties, as well as\u00a0corporate and marketing events, happy hour promotions, and car shows. With its infectious blend of swing, jazz, Delta blues, and southern storytelling, the album earned platinum sales status and helped propel the band from the underground scene of Chapel Hill, NC to the national stage. Mraz signed to Elektra Records for his major label debut release,\u00a0Waiting for My Rocket to Come,\u00a0which would be certified platinum by the RIAA in 2004 and reach number two on\u00a0Billboard\u2019s\u00a0Heatseekers chart. Club operators at long-gone area venues like the Skeleton Club and Straita Head Sound often booted him over the messes. After vanishing from the music scene for a number of years,\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.sandiegoreader.com\/weblogs\/big-screen\/2011\/jun\/26\/dvd-documentary-features-local-cult-rocker-gary-wi\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">he resurfaced<\/a>\u00a0as the subject of an acclaimed documentary film, began releasing new material, and even appeared on\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=KFKFP-1zGYk\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Late Night with Jimmy Fallon<\/a>, performing alongside the Roots and Questlove.
