While San Francisco\u2019s teachers walk the picket line,<\/a> their students are spending yet another day away from their lessons. However, many kids are finding ways to stay productive.<\/p>\n

Although the teachers strike in San Francisco continues, that doesn\u2019t mean all students are sitting home on the couch at home playing video games. At the Merced Manor Reservoir, the Lincoln High Drum Corps is preaching the say \u201cthe show must go on.\u201d<\/p>\n

With their biggest competition of the year approaching, members of\u00a0 Lincoln High\u2019s Drum Corps say they can\u2019t afford to stop practicing; so, while their school campus remains quiet and empty as their teachers strike, they\u2019ve found a space at the Merced Manor Reservoir to run their marching music sets.<\/p>\n

\u201cBecause we\u2019re not at school to practice we have limited access to our instruments we knew about the strike beforehand, so we brought some of our instruments home,\u201d Abigail Park, a Lincoln High student, said.<\/p>\n

Lincoln High\u2019s exhibition drill team isn\u2019t staying idle either. They\u2019ve also got a big competition coming up, so there\u2019s no time to waste.<\/p>\n

\u201cEven if the strike only lasted one week we\u2019re still losing one week out of the eight weeks left we have until the competition and that is crucial time for us to learn the drills and perfect it and to start on our choreography and our placements,\u201d Zoe Shu-doo, a student, said.<\/p>\n

While they miss being on campus, students say they fully support their striking teachers. In fact, drum corps members have even spent time on the picket line this week.<\/p>\n

They say their teachers often spend extra time at lunch and after school to help students and deserve what they\u2019re demanding from the district.<\/p>\n

\u201cOur teachers here at Lincoln work really hard to make sure we\u2019re getting quality education even when they aren\u2019t getting the support they need in order to teach us to their full potential,\u201d Park said.<\/p>\n

\u201cI just hope the teachers get what they want like healthcare. It\u2019s really important then,\u201d Cailyn Tuong, Lincoln High student, said.<\/p>\n
