A storm system originating in the Gulf of Alaska will drop south and bring rain chances to SoCal beginning late Monday.<\/p>\n

Rain is likely for all of SoCal beginning early Tuesday morning in Ventura County and spreading south and east through the day.<\/p>\n

It will be a cool system that will bring temperatures 10-20 degrees below seasonal averages.<\/p>\n

Around SoCal<\/p>\n

1.\u00a0LA city, county offices to be closed for Indigenous Peoples Day<\/a><\/p>\n

Los Angeles city and county offices will be closed Monday for Indigenous Peoples Day while federal offices will be closed for Columbus Day, which remains a federal holiday.<\/p>\n

Indigenous Peoples Day is not a state holiday, so state courts and other state offices will be open. A bill approved by the Legislature in 1998 and signed into law by then-Gov. Pete Wilson designated the fourth Friday in September as Native American Day, a state holiday when state courts and other state offices are closed.<\/p>\n

Schools in the Los Angeles Unified School District will also be open. Buses, rail services and Metrolink trains in Los Angeles run on a regular schedule. The U.S. Postal Service does not deliver regular mail on Columbus Day, and post offices will be closed as will most major banks.<\/p>\n

A multicultural Indigenous Peoples Day celebration highlighting Indigenous identity, art, dance and history will be held from noon-2 p.m. at Cal State Los Angeles and include performances, art workshops and educational videos.<\/p>\n

2.\u00a0Out of jail, Mark Sanchez says he’s `focused on recovery’<\/a><\/p>\n

Former USC and NFL quarterback Mark Sanchez publicly addressed his violent altercation with a 69-year-old truck driver for the first time Sunday, as he left an Indianapolis jail after being fingerprinted on a felony battery charge.<\/p>\n

“I’m just focused on my recovery, and I just wanted to thank the first responders, Eskenazi hospital, Marion County sheriff and the Indianapolis Police Department,” the 38-year-old Sanchez said, adding that he also wanted to “thank Dr. (Lindsey) Mossler, the surgeon. She saved my life, I’m grateful for that.”<\/p>\n

“I’m recovering slowly,” Sanchez added as he walked away from reporters. “It’s a long process.”<\/p>\n

Sanchez was released from a hospital Sunday morning, where he was treated for a stab wound he suffered in the encounter, which took place in the early minutes of Oct. 4 in an ally behind a bar in the 300 block of West Washington Street in downtown Indianapolis.<\/p>\n

Sanchez was arrested and charged but not immediately booked into jail because of his injuries. He appeared briefly at the police station Sunday morning to be fingerprinted and have a mug shot taken, according to CBS Sports.<\/p>\n

3.\u00a0Dodgers to face Brewers in championship series<\/a><\/p>\n

The Dodgers will face Milwaukee in the National League Championship Series beginning Monday in Milwaukee after losing all six of their regular season games against the Brewers.<\/p>\n

Milwaukee advanced to the NLCS for the first time since 2018 with a 3- 1 victory over the Chicago Cubs in Game 5 of their National League Division Series in Milwaukee Saturday night to win the best-of-five series three games to two.<\/p>\n

The Brewers had the best record in Major League Baseball, 97-65, one game better than the Philadelphia Phillies, 96-66, who the Dodgers defeated three games to one in their NLDS. The Dodgers had the fifth-best record, 93-69.<\/p>\n

The Dodgers have a 70.1% chance of winning the series, Milwaukee a 29.9% chance, according to FanGraphs. The baseball statistics and advanced analytics website has made the Dodgers the favorite to win the World Series at 43.2%, with the Brewers the fourth choice at 11.8%, also behind the Seattle Mariners (27.5%) and Toronto Blue Jays (17.6%).<\/p>\n
