ROCHESTER, Mich. \u2013 Joshua Damon Edwards, 18, has been charged with assault with intent to murder following a stabbing at Oakland University.<\/p>\n

The attack occurred on Thursday, Feb. 5, outside Van Waggoner Hall. <\/p>\n

When officers arrived, they found an 18-year-old victim from Rochester suffering multiple stab wounds. <\/p>\n

The victim underwent surgery and is currently recovering.<\/p>\n

Edwards, also from Rochester, was arrested Tuesday, Feb. 10, during a traffic stop. <\/p>\n

He is expected to be arraigned today (Feb. 13).<\/p>\n

Oakland University Police Chief Mark Gordon credited the campus security camera system and assistance from the Oakland County Sheriff\u2019s Office for identifying Edwards as a suspect. <\/p>\n

He praised the dedication of officers and detectives who worked tirelessly on the case.<\/p>\n

\u201cI want to commend the professionalism and dedication of our patrol officers, our detectives, and support staff who worked around the clock on this case. Their commitment to protecting our community and holding offenders accountable was unwavering,\u201d Gordon said. <\/p>\n

He also thanked members of the public who provided helpful information and urged anyone with additional details to contact the department at 248-370-3331.<\/p>\n

A second suspect remains at large. <\/p>\n

Police describe him as a man in his late 20s with curly hair, standing about 5 feet 8 inches to 5 feet 10 inches tall. <\/p>\n

Police are urging anyone with information to come forward.<\/p>\n
