Eric Ehler and Peter Dorrance, the duo behind megapopular Outta Sight Pizza<\/a>, announced a new venture via news site Mission Local<\/a>. But rather than another pizza shop, Ehler and Dorrance take over Pomeroy Bar & Grill<\/a> at 460 Larkin Street, just a few spaces north of their first location. In keeping with the neighborhood, they\u2019re calling the new place Reggie and Maude\u2019s, after Tenderloin madams Reggie Gamble and Maude Spencer, who led a sex workers\u2019 rights movement in 1917.<\/p>\n

The plan so far is to offer \u201ctop-tier\u201d bar food at affordable prices, per Mission Local, and pizza isn\u2019t even necessarily a given at this point in planning. What is expected is a continuance of the venue\u2019s live music and events in Dodge Alley on the second Thursdays of the month. Once the lease is signed, the partners plan to expand the kitchen, add a new hood, and make the bathroom accessible. Pomeroy closes its doors after Sunday, February 15, and Dorrance told the news outlet they hope to open Reggie and Maude\u2019s by summer.<\/p>\n

Hi Neighbor says howdy to China Basin<\/p>\n

Hi Neighbor Hospitality Group \u2014 the group behind San Francisco restaurants The Vault Steakhouse<\/a>, Trestle<\/a>, MAMA Oakland<\/a>, and 7 Adams<\/a> \u2014 announced an ambitious new project set to open in China Basin in fall 2026. It\u2019s a new, yet-to-be-named restaurant led by chef Jason Halverson, set in an indoor-outdoor space along the Mission Creek channel with views of Oracle Park. There are no details on the menu just yet, but promisingly, there\u2019s mention of a lounge and reservable fire pits, along with a private dining room.<\/p>\n

Athletic Club Oakland closes, for now<\/p>\n

Destination sports bar Athletic Club Oakland closed its doors after Super Bowl Sunday, with co-owner Miles Palliser announcing the decision the following day on Instagram<\/a>. Palliser told the San Francisco Chronicle<\/a> that they were making just a portion of what they did in 2019, despite working hard to keep the business open since the COVID-19 pandemic. This, coupled with declining drinking rates, made it difficult to continue. There is a chance the bar could continue on, thanks to an interested party, the Chronicle reports, but nothing\u2019s been finalized quite yet.<\/p>\n

A three-day pop-up loads into Burdell this weekend<\/p>\n

Yes, it\u2019s Valentine\u2019s Day on Saturday, and with the \u201choliday\u201d weekend comes a fun takeover at Oakland\u2019s Burdell<\/a>. But, rather than another chef swooping in, it\u2019s the Burdell team switching up the concept for three days \u2014 \u201dA pop-up, sort of,\u201d the announcement reads<\/a>. Starting Friday, February 13, through Sunday, February 15, Burdell becomes the Tavern Chop House, which will serve items such as a tableside finished Caesar salad or chop salad, along with a coal-fired steak for two or a choice of two mains, plus classic cocktails and a \u201ctotally reworked\u201d wine list.
