Know a Piedmonter who shows up consistently, helps others, and makes community life better? Nominate them for the City of Piedmont\u2019s Volunteer of the Year awards.<\/p>\n
Piedmont has long been known as the \u201cCity of Volunteers.\u201d This award, first introduced in 2014, recognizes community members whose volunteer service helped strengthen Piedmont in 2025 \u2013 whether through neighborhood improvement, arts and culture, direct community support, or building a more welcoming and inclusive community.<\/p>\n
This year, the City is reviving the Volunteer of the Year award for the first time since 2019. We\u2019re also introducing a new award: Young Volunteer of the Year (under age 25), intended to uplift the meaningful contributions young people make across Piedmont.<\/p>\n
Nominations open through March 13
To nominate a volunteer, complete the online nomination form by Friday, March 13.<\/p>\n
Volunteer service can take many forms \u2013 from a long-running commitment to a concentrated effort that made a real difference in a single year. Nominations may recognize service that strengthened Piedmont through areas such as:
\u2022 Community enrichment: improving neighborhoods and shared spaces, from beautification and clean-ups to public safety and neighborhood initiatives
\u2022 Culture & Heritage: preserving local history, celebrating Piedmont\u2019s diverse community, and supporting cultural events
\u2022 Arts: strengthening the community through the visual and performing arts, arts education, events, and mentorship
\u2022 Social: direct community support and humanitarian service, including work with seniors, children, individuals with disabilities, families, and community health and safety
\u2022 Allyship: fostering belonging and solidarity, challenging bias, and helping make Piedmont a safe and welcoming community for everyone<\/p>\n
These categories are intentionally broad \u2013 if someone\u2019s impact doesn\u2019t fit neatly in one box, nominate them anyway. If their service made a difference, we want to hear about it.<\/p>\n
Nominations will be reviewed using a blind scoring process that considers measurable impact, service dedication, innovation and leadership, and character and values. Top-scoring nominees are then forwarded to a City Council subcommittee for final selection.<\/p>\n
Awardees will be recognized at the City\u2019s annual Volunteer Appreciation Reception on April 20, 2026.<\/p>\n
