\t\t\tOBITUARY\t\t<\/p>\n
John Michael Pieper, 85, passed away peacefully with his family by his side on January 29, 2026. Born in San Jose, California, John spent much of his childhood in New Jersey and Pennsylvania. He graduated from Penncrest High School in Media, PA and attended Villanova University before returning to California, where he built a life centered on service, family, and friendship.<\/p>\n
In 1962, John met Charlene McAbee, they fell in love and the two were married in 1963, beginning a partnership that lasted more than six decades. <\/p>\n
John served in the United States Army at Fort Ord in Seaside, CA. Following his military service, he embarked on a rewarding 30-year career with the San Jose Fire Department. He served with pride, dedication and ultimately retired as an Arson Investigator.<\/p>\n
After retiring in 1996, John devoted the next 30 years to the people and passions he loved most. He was a loyal husband and beloved father, grandfather, brother, and friend. His hobbies were many\u2013golf, baseball, reading, playing cards, country music, traveling, and spending time with loved ones who brought joy and laughter into his life. An avid golfer, John was a proud member of Almaden Country Club for 37 years. A lifelong Dodgers fan, his love for the team began in childhood while watching them play in Brooklyn.<\/p>\n
John was preceded in death by his parents, Ernest Pieper Jr. and Margaret Wise Pieper, and his brother, Tommy Pieper, all of San Jose.<\/p>\n
He is survived by his wife, Charlene; his four children, Michael and wife Patty, Mary Guertin, Jim and wife Rachael, Chris and wife Rosemarie; his grandchildren, Miranda, Michael, Brandy, Kendall, Kylie, his great granddaughter, Abigail and his step grandchildren, Karl, Travis and Hailey. He is also survived by his sister, Kathy Apgar; his brother, Frank and wife Ingrid; his brother, Ricky and wife, Bonnie, a niece and many nephews.<\/p>\n
He will be remembered for his steady presence, his humor, his loyalty, and the deep love he held for his family and friends.<\/p>\n
A private event to celebrate John\u2019s life will be held on March 7th.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"John M.
