<\/p>\n SAN FRANCISCO, Calif. \u2013 Gabriel Barrett<\/a> and Quentin Pohorski<\/a> combined for a four-hit shutout as the University of San Francisco baseball team (1-0) earned a 2-0 victory over Western Illinois (0-1) Friday afternoon at Benedetti Diamond.

\n\tSan Francisco plated two runs in the bottom of the second inning to secure the victory. With the bases loaded and no outs, Tino Vasell<\/a> punched an RBI single to center field for a 1-0 advantage.
\n\tEddison Esquivel<\/a> followed shortly after with a single to left field, scoring Jared Lewis<\/a>, giving the green and gold a 2-0 lead.

\n\tSan Francisco accumulated seven hits throughout the contest, with Esquivel going two-for-four with an RBI to lead the team.
\n\tJayden Garrison<\/a>, Brendan Burke<\/a>, Zack Ramppen<\/a>, Jackson Nystrom<\/a>, and Vasell also registered base hits.
\n\tBarrett, in his first-ever opening day start, recorded five scoreless innings, allowing three hits and striking out five batters.
\n\tPohorski finished the final four innings, completing the shutout with a career-best six strikeouts to earn the save.
\n\tThe Dons’ offense drew five walks, with Lewis recording a team-high three.
\n\tSan Francisco held Western Illinois to just one hit in the final five innings and allowed two total baserunners.
