UCLA registered a 10-4 scoring advantage in the second half.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/uclabruins.com\/sports\/womens-water-polo\/roster\/anna-pearson\/15814\" rel=\"smarttag nofollow noopener\" rev=\"15814\" target=\"_blank\">Anna Pearson<\/a> scored a game-high five goals for the Bruins (8-0). <a href=\"https:\/\/uclabruins.com\/sports\/womens-water-polo\/roster\/taylor-smith\/15818\" rel=\"smarttag nofollow noopener\" rev=\"15818\" target=\"_blank\">Taylor Smith<\/a> added four of her own. Scoring two goals each were <a href=\"https:\/\/uclabruins.com\/sports\/womens-water-polo\/roster\/dania-innis\/15806\" rel=\"smarttag nofollow noopener\" rev=\"15806\" target=\"_blank\">Dania Innis<\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/uclabruins.com\/sports\/womens-water-polo\/roster\/bia-mantellato\/15809\" rel=\"smarttag nofollow noopener\" rev=\"15809\" target=\"_blank\">Bia Mantellato<\/a>. The Bulldogs (7-6) were paced by Caitlyn Mossman and Charley Stephens, who logged two goals apiece. <a href=\"https:\/\/uclabruins.com\/sports\/womens-water-polo\/roster\/lauren-steele\/15819\" rel=\"smarttag nofollow noopener\" rev=\"15819\" target=\"_blank\">Lauren Steele<\/a> finished with six saves in three quarters for UCLA. She was relieved by <a href=\"https:\/\/uclabruins.com\/sports\/womens-water-polo\/roster\/joey-niz\/15812\" rel=\"smarttag nofollow noopener\" rev=\"15812\" target=\"_blank\">Joey Niz<\/a>, who added three in the fourth. Katelyn Mobley had two stops for Fresno State.<\/p>\n<p>Both teams were slow to get going offensively in the first quarter, combining for four total goals. Pearson and <a href=\"https:\/\/uclabruins.com\/sports\/womens-water-polo\/roster\/emma-lineback\/15808\" rel=\"smarttag nofollow noopener\" rev=\"15808\" target=\"_blank\">Emma Lineback<\/a> converted power-play opportunities, each answering a Bulldog score.<\/p>\n<p>The teams continued to trade goals in the second, scoring four each in the opening 5:07. Five different Bruins \u2013 Mantellato, Pearson, Smith, <a href=\"https:\/\/uclabruins.com\/sports\/womens-water-polo\/roster\/katherine-o-dea\/15828\" rel=\"smarttag nofollow noopener\" rev=\"15828\" target=\"_blank\">Katherine O&#8217;Dea<\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/uclabruins.com\/sports\/womens-water-polo\/roster\/elektra-urbatsch\/15822\" rel=\"smarttag nofollow noopener\" rev=\"15822\" target=\"_blank\">Elektra Urbatsch<\/a> \u2013 found the back of the net in the frame. Mantellato gave UCLA its first lead of the game, at 7-6, on a penalty shot with 2:02 left. The score stayed there until halftime.<\/p>\n<p>The third quarter belonged to the Bruins, who collected six of seven goals scored. They posted five in a row across 6:08, with Pearson and Smith each scoring twice and Mantellato adding the other. Smith tacked on her third of the quarter \u2013 second on a power play \u2013 with 23 seconds left. She had three six-on-five scores for the game.<\/p>\n<p>Innis and <a href=\"https:\/\/uclabruins.com\/sports\/womens-water-polo\/roster\/jenna-human\/15805\" rel=\"smarttag nofollow noopener\" rev=\"15805\" target=\"_blank\">Jenna Human<\/a> got in the scorebook during the fourth quarter, with the former turning in a pair of goals. Pearson added her fifth, which became a season high for the senior hailing from Irvine, Calif.<\/p>\n<p>UCLA next meets No. 3 USC\u00a0Saturday at 4:30 p.m. PT.
