Overfelt<\/a> dropped down to 12-10 on Friday, ending the team’s five-game streak of wins. They were just a bucket shy of victory and fell 49-48 to the Independence 76ers<\/a>. Unfortunately, that’s the second time they’ve come up short against the 76ers this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 47-45 back in January.<\/p>\n As for Independence, they pushed their record up to 11-10 with the victory, which was their fourth straight at home. The home wins came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 50.8 points over those games.<\/p>\n Independence got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Genesza Franco<\/a> out in front who posted six points along with 13 boards and three blocks. Franco is becoming a predictor of the 76ers’ success: when she posts at least eight rebounds the team is 3-1 (and 8-9 when she doesn’t). Isabella Aquino<\/a> was another key player, putting up six points in addition to five boards and three steals.<\/p>\n Overfelt didn’t take long to hit the court again: they’ve already played their next game, a 39-28 win against Mt. Pleasant on the 13th. As for Independence, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next matchup, a 52-36 victory against Yerba Buena on the 11th.<\/p>\n
