FRESNO, Calif. (KFSN) — A downtown fixture is undergoing a major makeover.<\/p>\n
After more than six decades of service, the Central Library branch in Downtown Fresno will undergo a major infrastructure renovation.<\/p>\n
As of last January, 40% of the project is completed.<\/p>\n
The remaining 60% will include upgrades to the building’s electrical system, lighting and ceiling, and basement renovation.<\/p>\n
The facility, which opened on April 13, 1959 is set to temporarily close until 2028.<\/p>\n
In the meantime, surrounding communities can visit nearby branches including West Fresno Library, Mosqueda Library and Gillis Library.<\/p>\n
Central holds will be rerouted to the West Fresno Library.<\/p>\n
Today was the last of service of service for the Downtown Fresno branch.<\/p>\n
