FRESNO, Calif. – Air Force men’s basketball (3-22, 0-14 MW) fell to Fresno State (12-13, 6-8 MW), 93-63, in Mountain West action Saturday afternoon at Save Mart Center. \u00a0Freshman forward Lucas Hobin<\/a> led the Falcons with 26 points and set. a new Air Force freshman three-point season record.<\/p>\n

A slow start had the Falcons trailing from the get-go, as Fresno State opened by scoring the first 11 points of the game. \u00a0The Bulldogs forced 11 turnovers, holding a 19-0 advantage in points off turnovers in the opening half. \u00a0In addition, Fresno State got to the free throw line 19 times in the first half to take a 45-33 halftime lead. \u00a0<\/p>\n

The Falcons did fight back late in the half, closing with a 9-3 run. \u00a0Hobin kept Air Force in the game by knocking down 17 points in the first half. \u00a0Air Force also shot a perfect 7-of-7 from the free thow line in the opening half.<\/p>\n

Fresno State shot 60 percent in the second half, preventing the Falcons from being able to close the game. \u00a0For the game, the Bulldogs shot 55 percent from the field. \u00a0DeShawn Gory and Wilson Jacques led four Fresno State players in double-figures scoring with 18 points each.<\/p>\n

Hobin scored the most points in a MW game by a Falcon this season, which was also one-shy of his career high. \u00a0Hobin made five three’s on the day. \u00a0He now has 58 three’s on the season, setting a new program record for three’s by a freshman. \u00a0He surpassed the previous record of 57 set by Zach Kocur in 2015.<\/p>\n

Freshmen Kam Sanders<\/a> and Riley Dering<\/a> also reached double-figures in scoring for the Falcons. \u00a0Sanders recorded his first-career double-double with 10 points and a career-high 11 assists. \u00a0He became the first Falcons to notch a double-double via points and assists since Trevor Lyons in 2018. \u00a0Dering led the Falcons reserves with 13 points and added five rebounds. \u00a0He had two back-to-back dunks and his first-career three. \u00a0Junior Caleb Walker<\/a> also added eight rebounds.<\/p>\n

Air Force returns to action Tuesday, Feb. 17 at New Mexico. \u00a0Tip time is 7 pm MT from The Pit in Albuquerque, NM. \u00a0The game will be televised by Altitude and streamed on the MW Network.
