A group of California high schoolers has reportedly been disciplined after they lined up on the bleachers last week wearing shirts that spelled out a homophobic slur<\/a> \u2014 a shocking act that has rocked the district.\u00a0<\/p>\n

The 10 troublemakers from Redwood High School, located southeast of Fresno<\/a>, including several student government leaders, smiled with their arms wrapped around one another and posed for a photo with white T-shirts that spelled out \u201cF\u2014-t,\u201d according to an image obtained by YourCentralValley.com<\/a>.<\/p>\n

The students had letters on their tees for a senior class photo inside the gym and had initially posed for a picture that spelled out, \u201cAlways Legit, Class of 2026,\u201d\u00a0Visalia Unified School District spokesperson Cristina Gutierrez told the San Francisco Chronicle<\/a>.\u00a0<\/p>\n

But they pulled off the disturbing stunt afterward, using the \u201c6\u201d for the \u201cg\u201d in the slur.<\/p>\n

School officials caught wind of the slur after the students\u2019 photo started circulating on social media.\u00a0<\/p>\n

\u201cWe have recently been made aware of an image circulating in which Redwood students coordinated to spell out a hateful, homophobic slur,\u201d Visalia Unified Superintendent Kirk Shrum\u00a0said in a statement to the outlets.\u00a0<\/p>\n

The 10 troublemakers from Redwood High School, located near Fresno, included several student government leaders. KSEE\/KGPE<\/p>\n

\u201cThis is unacceptable behavior and this matter is being thoroughly investigated and appropriate action will be taken,\u201d the superintendent vowed.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Gutierrez told the Chronicle that the incident has shaken the school community, especially since some of those involved were student government leaders.\u00a0<\/p>\n

By Friday, the school district announced it took \u201cappropriate disciplinary action\u201d against the students who spelled out the slur, according to YourCentralValley.com<\/a>.\u00a0<\/p>\n

The district didn\u2019t elaborate on the exact punishment, but the group of 10 could be suspended or expelled, according to school board policies.<\/p>\n
