Long Beach police Monday are continuing their investigation of the arrest of a man who barricaded himself inside a Long Beach Midtown hotel where he allegedly stabbed a woman .<\/p>\n
Long Beach Police Department officers responded at 6:45 p.m Saturday to the motel on the 1700 block of Pine Avenue, between Pacific Coast Highway and Sixteenth Street, regarding a mental health and stabbing call, police said. When they arrived at the scene, officers found a woman with non-life-threatening injuries, who declined their offer to go to a hospital.<\/p>\n
The officers then unsuccessfully tried to reach the barricaded suspect. SWAT and mental health teams were called to the scene in an effort to de-escalate the situation, but the suspect remained uncooperative, according to police.<\/p>\n
After approximately two hours, police moved in to arrest the suspect after using a Taser, tear gas, a less-lethal launcher and a K9 officer, the department said. The suspect was arrested and taken to a hospital by Long Beach Fire Department personnel for treatment after sustaining non-life-threatening injuries.<\/p>\n
Police said the victim and suspect know each other.<\/p>\n
